The name trivially originates from the initials of the 4 members of the group Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Anni-Frid (better known later as Frida) who was formed in 1969 in Sweden, therefore far from the first disco ferments ” New Yorkers ”, but with their pop pieces they still enter the Olympus of disco music by right.
Their “Dancing Queen” becomes a sort of anthem of the gay movement, this still today, but to further sanction their musical immortality, Madonna has recently thought about it by sampling in her Hang up, a historical piece like “Gimme, gimme , gimme “. In the group, also passion and marriage between Agnetha and Bjorn, ditto for Benny and Frida, which then ended with relative divorces which also sanctioned the end of the group towards the last part of the 80s.
