Chic are disco music. their influence stretches far and wide further than just their own songs. Nile Rodgers on guitar, Ben Edwards on Bass and Tony Thompson on drums. This addition of Alfa Anderson and Norma Jean Wright changed what had been The Big Apple Band into Chic, who became masters of the art of the floorfilling. Their first big success was “Dance Dance Dance” in 1977 earning success with songs like “Good Times” and “Le Freak” the laters refrain famously toned down from ‘ahh fuck off’ to the more PG ‘ahh freak out’. Following the crash of the disco train in the early 1980s, they disbanded with Rodgers and Edwards switching to production for artists like Diana Ross, Rodgers in particular has worked with such a variety of musicians from Avicii to Daft Punk to Queen. “Good Times” is also famed as one of the biggest early hip hop samples, ‘Rapper’s Delight” by The Sugar Hill Gang.
