ALICIA BRIDGES
One of the first female DJs and VJs, she arrived in New York during the disco years and made a name for herself in the clubs; this led to the opportunity to work with Polydor, and what surprised everyone was that given her knowledge of the dance floor and how to fill it, she was given complete artistic freedom, something that record labels at that time (and even later) did not grant to anyone…
She produced “I Love the Nightlife,” a true anthem of those years (evident from the title itself): the music is rhythmic, engaging, and refined… Over time she produced other works, but we do not even feel like mentioning them, so as not to tarnish the legend of “I Love the Nightlife.”
Toward the mid-1980s she left New York and for about ten years “spun records” at a very famous gay venue called “The Lunge Otherside.”
