BARRY WHITE
…all under the same umbrella, with the “KING” Barry above…
Born in 1944 in Texas, he is a singer and keyboardist, and his voice perfectly matched the “early” disco sound, smooth and seductive… Many years of hard work in the Los Angeles music industry, but the turning point came in 1969, when he founded “Love Unlimited” (a female trio), and began producing them, reaping the best results in 1972 with “Walkin’ in the Rain with the One I Love.”
In the following years, he founded the “Love Unlimited Orchestra” which had personal hits such as “Love’s Theme,” “I’m So Glad I’m a Woman,” and others featuring vocals by, of course, the “Love Unlimited” (trio), and who all together supported Barry in his personal successes and productions.
His golden period ran from 1973 to 1976: these were the years of his famous songs with short titles… “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Baby,” “Let the Music Play,” “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything,” “I’m Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby”… and many others. His last major hit was a cover of “Just the Way You Are” by Billy Joel.
After the disco era ended, he continued with mixed fortunes, but even though he left us some time ago, he remains an immortal of disco.
