“GOT TO BE REAL”, yes, all caps, because this track is capital… If you close your eyes, you think of the reflections from the mirror ball at Studio 54 in New York, the sequins, the glitter of those moments, jumpsuits, plunging necklines, teased hair… This track “is” New York disco music. It truly is.
Before this, she was a gospel and soul singer; afterwards, she continued with varying degrees of success. She is remembered for another good track from the period, “Shake It Up Tonight,” and then a curiosity: it is she who sings the legendary “Georgy Porgy” with Toto. Fantastic.
