DISCO INVERNO: THE UNFORGETTABLE ’70s

Saturday 10 November 2012

DISCO INVERNO, the major event that marked the conclusion of the ‘GENERAZIONE TRAVOLTA’ series.

For one night only, the National Central Library of Florence was transformed into an unusual dance floor. This celebration remained mindful of its cultural setting, which, as always, was enhanced by a spectacular scenographic arrangement. A prime example was the central distribution desk, covered by a stunning wall of books.

The invitation was also innovative: no ticket this time, but a very unique book-invitation.

The evening followed the I Love Disco motto ‘ballo ma non sballo’—healthy fun without excess—where disco music, selected by DJs Enrico Tagliaferri and Simone Fanfani, was played on the original medium that defined the ’70s: vinyl.

For this evening as well, the dress code was unique yet in harmony with the host venue. No wigs or sequins, but rather a look following the dictates of 1970s Italian fashion, perhaps mixed with contemporary pieces. The must-have accessory for all ‘Discolovers’ was the silk scarf, a symbol of Italian fashion from that period, worn with flair and imagination.
