Do you have an unstoppable passion for ‘Vintage’? Then, you can’t miss the exhibition entitled ‘Vintage: the irresistible charm of the past’ at the Textile Museum in Prato. A journey into Fashion Vintage, into the history and evolution of fashion between past and present. It started on 8 December 2012 and will end on 30 May, the day before the long-awaited ILOVEDISCO event. There is no shortage of ideas for the dress code of this event: it ranges from the historical garments of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, but let’s find out more about the exhibition.

The exhibition (800 square meters of exhibition!) Wants to tell for the first time how the practice of second-hand, strongly rooted in the history of clothing and fabric, has been able over time to confer on the concepts of lived and second hand an unstoppable charm, generating a real phenomenon of costume.

A tribute to the evocative power of yesterday’s style, which continues to impose itself strongly even today, including hippie clothes, bright colors, military garments and denim. The exhibition aims to devote the right attention to vintage, which has now also become a media phenomenon: public figures, movie and TV stars, as well as blogs and social media, have contributed to promoting an image of elegance no longer linked to the new but to the head of second hand.
Walking through the exhibition path, you will be able to see 100 historical fabrics and garments, dating back to the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, of the biggest fashion houses: Dior, Balenciaga, Chanel, Cardin, Valentino … and then again the mythical fantasies of Pucci, the immortal Bamboo Bag by Gucci, and the timeless coats of Max Mara.

All this will catapult you into a pre-owned Prato pseudo-warehouse, supported by videos, images, interviews and multimedia contents. So vintage for everyone, from high fashion to street fashion, reinterpreting cult items, colors and fabrics of the past.

If corridors full of clothes, shoes and accessories of all kinds are not enough, the exhibition also offers fashion stores, markets, tastings and convivial occasions, conferences, and other themed commercial initiatives.
The exhibition will also be an opportunity to visit the Textile Museum of Prato, the largest cultural center in Italy dedicated to the enhancement of ancient and contemporary art and textile production.

For the dress code of this event you are really spoiled for choice, not just ’70s, choose the Vintage that is in you, withdraw the invitation and come and go wild at the right pace: fill up on disco- music.
