KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND

In the early 1970s, Harry “KC” Casey and Richard Finch seized the moment of the emerging Disco scene, forming a band designed to have its own unique style, distinct from all others: the goal was to be funky enough to succeed in clubs, while simultaneously ensuring the melodies were “hits.” Between ’75 and ’76, they achieved three number ones on the American charts: “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s the Way,” and “Shake Your Booty.”

Their success continued in the following years with “Keep It Comin’ Love,” “I’m Your Boogie Man,” and “Boogie Shoes” (which also appeared in “Saturday Night Fever”). Their last noteworthy hit in 1979 was “Please Don’t Go,” a ballad covered by many, including Italy’s own Fiorello…

After 1980, they effectively “broke ranks.” Casey went solo but, aside from 1982’s “Give It Up,” there were no more chart-topping hits—just numerous productions and occasional guest appearances reminiscing about the good old days!!!
